Spanish police have seized three drones used by drug traffickers to transport narcotics through the Strait of Gibraltar in Spain.
The Spanish Interior Ministry said it is the first time such devices designed to operate in water have been seized
The waterproof drones, as well as a surfboard, were found along with six large flying drones in several warehouses near the port city of Cadiz
The devices are designed to travel up to 30 km and carry up to 200 kg of marijuana and hashish.
“The navigation of these devices is done remotely through GPS, so that a person or a member of the organization can check the location at any time”said one of the police officials,
The investigation by the Spanish authorities lasted 14 months and allowed the police to seize over 150 kg of hashish and marijuana, 157,000 euros in cash and arrest eight people
