Democrats, supporters of former President Sali Berisha, are voting this Sunday to choose their candidate for the March 6 by-elections.
From 08:00 to 17:00, in the hall “Odeon” of the cultural center “Aleksandër Moisiu” will take place this voting process for the selection of the best candidacy coming from the proposals of the base, for the Municipality of Durrës.
There are two candidates facing each other, urban engineer Ardian Muka and Silvja Gjepali, a 28-year-old who has completed her studies in Information Technology. Despite participating in this preliminary vote, the result is expected to have no surprises.
It is the first time that the membership of the Democratic Party will decide with a vote for the best candidate. Over the years, the urbanist Muka has been one of the most discussed and supported figures by the base as a candidate for mayor, but decisions were always made by the party chairman, ignoring the opinion of the base.
This time the DP is voting, but it is facing a deep crisis and the fate of the candidacies that emerged from this vote is still unknown.
