Four organizers of an “entertainment” event organized on the Facebook network have been arrested in Egypt on charges that they were “planning an uprising” and that they are “using users’ reactions to make money”.
The “Helvan Real Batman Battle” event was organized when two users claimed to be the masked warrior.
A third had proposed dressing up in superhero costumes and “fighting a battle” in the Helwan area of Cairo “to settle the matter”.
“Whoever survives is the real Batman,” the event description continues.
But a few days after the event was aired on television networks, security authorities expressed concerns that it could promote violence or a possible rebellion against the government.
