The Government of Kosovo has published a manual for saving electricity, after the crisis that has gripped the country and the world by raising its price. In the manual published by the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the first advice is to save on lighting.
“Turning off the lights when leaving the room / house”, is the first piece of advice at this point. It also recommends replacing light bulbs with high efficiency ones (LEDs).
Meanwhile, there is a call for electricity use in the schedule 22:00 – 07:00 when the tariff is lower. According to the manual, at this time it is recommended to use the washing machine, dishwasher and iron for ironing. The manual further goes on to advise on stopping hot water when citizens brush their teeth. This is because “the most rational use of hot water increases energy savings.”
It is also said that chargers for phones, laptops, etc. should not be left in the power supply overnight. The energy crisis has recently led to a huge increase in the price at which electricity is imported to Kosovo. The Government has said that there can be no guarantee that there will be no price increase.
