The State Police announces that during the first two weeks of December, 51 cases of environmental crimes were identified and cracked down, and as a result, 22 citizens were arrested, 32 others were prosecuted, and 3 people were declared wanted.
Police are exercising massive controls throughout the country, in order to identify and crack down on attempts for illegal logging, illegal construction, environmental pollution, erosion of rivers and destruction of land structure, criminal offenses that bring a great damage to the life and health of citizens, as well as the destruction of the territory.
To prevent and detect them throughout the country, during the first two weeks of December, 1024 police forces were engaged.
As a result of the controls, 51 cases of environmental crimes were identified and hit, namely cases of illegal construction, illegal logging, occupation and misuse of land, destruction of water supply, destruction of property, air and water pollution, damage to habitats. in protected areas, waste management, river erosion and prohibited fishing.
Mass control of the territory will continue 24/7, in order to prevent, detect and crack down on any illegality, in whatever area it will appear.
The State Police invites the citizens to contribute to the limitation of the damages caused to the environment, by denouncing any illegality, to the toll free number 112 and to send a notification or images to the Digital Commissariat, where improvements have been made recently and new sections have been added for denounce environmental crimes.
