Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in Tirana on Monday for an official visit. The Prime Minister, Edi Rama, will personally welcome him to the Rinas International Airport at 09:00.
The president and his accompanying delegation will then travel to Kurbin to take a closer look at the fruits of Turkish state aid for reconstruction following the tragic November 26th earthquake. Erdogan will inaugurate 524 residential apartments in Kurbin Municipality, which have already been completed and families are ready to wait.
At 14:00 Erdogan will arrive in the Albanian capital to meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama. Two hours later, the Turkish President will visit the Et’hem Bey Mosque, which has been restored by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA). The restoration of this mosque, which is a cultural monument of the first category and which is part of the monuments that make up the historic center of Tirana, began in March 2018. This mosque belongs to the Ottoman period and is a symbol of the capital of Albania.
After this visit, Erdogan will deliver a welcoming speech in the Albanian Parliament in the first plenary session of the second session of the X legislature. This is not his first visit to Albania.
Recall that in January of a year ago, the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama was received with great pomp by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. The Turkish Guard accompanied the Albanian Prime Minister from the moment of his descent from the airport to the Presidency. It was Erdogan who greeted Rama the moment he got out of the car. The two leaders dressed in black and with masks depict the paved road with blue carpets.
What stood out were the hundreds of armed forces which were uniformly lined up for Edi Rama’s visit to Turkey. On his part, Rama described that visit as very important to open a new chapter of cooperation between the two governments and to sign a series of important agreements in the framework of the strategic partnership.
