An Albanian soldier selected to be part of a cooperation mission with the army of the Netherlands, within NATO, has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in criminal activity.
Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, referring to the police of the Netherlands, reports that Major Ermal Dinoshi has been put under investigation as a training specialist.
After the arrest, the Albanian soldier is being investigated at large under the suspicion of adapting a house for growing cannabis.
Dinoshi says the Dutch police allegedly set up a house for growing cannabis in the city of Brunsum in collaboration with other people.
Contacted by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu to give his version of the event, Major Dinoshi categorically denied his involvement in this event.
“What What? Absolutist NO, beware of privacy. Please what you say is untrue. You have confused the honorable person,” he said.
The Ministry of Defense, after being contacted by Top Channel, gave this reaction through the spokesperson Fation Hoxhalli.
“He is involved in an activity for which the Dutch authorities are investigating him at large.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is awaiting a report from the Dutch authorities. The Ministry of Defense has forbidden him to exercise his responsibilities and duty at the base and has ordered his immediate return to his homeland”.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that it is cooperating with the Dutch authorities for the full clarification of the incident and taking the appropriate legal measures in the future.
This event raises a series of questions about how the soldiers of our NATO member country are selected and what filters they go through to go on such missions.
According to the information coming from the structures of the Albanian army, the same selection was made this year, with people without merit and without criteria.
Albania as a NATO country, but even in this situation where the threat of external and internal actors has increased, an ever-increasing transparency of this selection is important.
