“Fergesa Festival” unites Tirana and Elbasan, mayors Veliaj and Llatja: Let’s promote tourism

Turned into an annual tradition for the capital city, but not only, it came this year as a taste challenge between Tirana and Elbasan, attracting a large number of tourists and visitors. To greet this celebration, the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Elbasan Gledian Llatja, the Minister of Education and Sports Evis Kushi, etc. were present.

Mayor Veliaj emphasized that tourism is increasingly becoming an engine of local economic development and a source of income. “It is an extraordinary pleasure in a Tirana that is filled with tourists, in a Tirana that does not have a free hotel room, in a Tirana where every restaurant is booked, every bar, every club. Culture, cuisine, art, music, theater, ballet all produce economy. We definitely know how to make pizza, we definitely know how to cook international food, but people don’t come to Albania for something borrowed from somewhere else. People come to Albania, spend money in Albania, spend nights in Albania, vacation in Albania for something that is authentically Albanian,” said Veliaj.

Mayor Veliaj said that such holidays serve to preserve and promote the identity of the capital and its recognition by foreign visitors. “This is a way to remember that we have an incredible tradition, whether it’s in the clothes you have today, whether it’s the music we played today, whether it’s the fantastic costumes we have for the little ones, whether it’s the food. It is authentic and it is something that unites us, not only Tirana and Elbasan, but something that we should all be proud of. And I firmly believe that in Albania today you can spend an extraordinary time. “Definitely on the beach, but also in Tirana and Elbasan where you don’t have a beach, you can eat well, you can have new friends, you can see art and culture, you can see the Elbasan Castle, the Castle in Tirana”, underlined Veliaj.

The Mayor of Elbasan, Gledian Llatja, appreciated the traditions and cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana. “Tirana is the home of all Albania. Normally, fargesa is one of the dishes that has always united us as Central Albania. Thank you for this activity that you gave us and the opportunity to be present here today together with the artists of Elbasan”, said the mayor Llatja.
In addition to the culinary fair of the area, the attendees had the opportunity to follow the performance of the Tirana Ensemble with dances of Central Albania, the “Isuf Myzyri” Ensemble and the Elbasan Children’s Ensemble.
