A senior police officer in Florida, USA is being investigated by authorities after he was recorded on camera threateningly grabbing by the throat his female colleague who was pulling her away from the suspect they had just injured.
Sunrise City Police Officer Christopher Pullease, 46, is accused of assaulting an unnamed 28-year-old female officer outside a store at the end of the year, the network reports. WSVN .
The incident took place when Pullease and several other police officers arrested the man for assaulting the person, after he had hit some people in the store.
But the officers’s body cameras, released just this week, showed the officer walking towards the suspect as other police officers tried to get him into the car.
Pullease had approached the car and pulled out the hot spray, addressing the detainee as he spoke to him.
But the female police officer ran towards him and pulled him from the waist belt away from the suspect, the body camera footage showed.
Pullease was furious at the colleague’s action and grabbed him by the throat holding him behind a police car.
Sunrise Police Chief Anthony Rosa described Pullease’s behavior as “disgusting.”
Authorities released video footage without audio and refused to reveal what Pullease was saying to his colleague as he held it by the throat.
Rosa said Pullease had exacerbated what should have been a calm situation with the suspect.
He picked up the female police officer for the intervention, who worked with the department for two and a half years.
“I am proud of this officer who took a decisive action, even though she is relatively young and the other officer is older on duty.”
Investigations continue.
