The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has revised down Albania’s economic growth.
The institution predicts that economic growth will slow to 3%, while the last projections in March were at 3.3%.
This downward revision comes as Europe is discussing a ban on energy imports from Russia, with fuel and electricity prices likely to rise further.
Under these conditions, food and living costs will suffer another blow. All of this will translate into a stronger blow to the poor, according to the report.
The entire Balkan region is expected to decline, while Montenegro will be hardest hit, followed by Serbia and northern Macedonia.
Albania compared to the countries of the region has lower inflation and a more stable macroeconomic situation.
From the forecasts of international institutions for our country, the most grim is that of the International Monetary Fund, which expects the Albanian economy to expand by only 2%, from 4.5% which was the forecast in October.
