Serious scenes of football violence came last night from Seville to Spain where fans of the German team of Eintracht Frankfurt attacked without warning a group of fans of the London team of West Ham sitting in a bar in the capital of Andalusia.
The organized and unexplained attack on Frankfurt fans came even though the two teams did not face each other.
And in fact Frankfurt played last night winning against the Spanish team of Betis Sevilla, while the English West Ham had come to town the night before their squad match today (Thursday) with the other city squad ‘Sevilla FC’.
Footage posted last night on social media showed violent scenes in the city center.
Organized Frankfurt fans go to the Irish bar where West Ham fans were staying and start the fight with glass bottles, sticks, chairs and tables that were used indiscriminately in the fight.
Surprisingly the brave West Ham fans reacted bravely understanding the situation and confronting the attackers until the arrival of the authorities.
The clash had lasted several minutes and commentators said the motive was an earlier clash between fans of both teams.
The Telegraph wrote that police had been forced to use rubber bullets as they attempted to stop the escalation of violence.
Both teams have qualified for the elimination round of the Europa League.
