After the marathon meeting in Berlin between the federation and the states, Germany decided to start the gradual opening in the retail sector.
From March 8, stores open in areas with an incidence of less than 50 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days. The consultations between Chancellor Angela Merkel and the prime ministers of the states regarding the further progress of the restrictive measures from the coronavirus pandemic lasted for nine hours. The result was the gradual easing of strict anti-covid restrictive measures.
The decision stipulates that with an incidence of more than 100 infections over three days in the affected area, shops and other activities will be closed again. Regarding the gastronomy sector, Chancellor Merkel said that if the incidence below 50 is stable within the time frame of 14 days, then the premises that provide services in open spaces can be opened.
“This is a transition to a new phase. However we should not be redeemed, but have grounded hopes. It is important that further steps are done wisely. The federation and the states agreed on the so-called emergency brake in case the seven-day incidence reaches 100. In such a case the opening decisions must be reversed.“, Said Merkel.
Regarding the lame progress of vaccination, it is intended that starting from the beginning of April in this process to be involved more than so far expert doctors and family doctors. Currently vaccination takes place only in specially created centers. It has also been decided that starting from March 8, every citizen will be offered a quick test for free coronavirus, the chancellor stressed.
