Greece has joined European countries that have eased anti-Covid measures.
At a time when both new cases and hospitalizations have dropped significantly in the neighboring country, life there is moving towards normalcy. The Greek Ministry of Health has officially confirmed the lifting of restrictions on all travelers entering the country.
In line with the recommendations of the local Committee of Experts, from May 1, persons entering Greece will no longer be required to submit a vaccination document, a Covid 19 cure document or a test certificate. There will also be facilities within the borders. The Covid vaccination demonstration demonstration is removed in all enclosed and open areas, but two weekly tests for unvaccinated hospital staff remain in place.
The committee of experts recommends wearing the mask indoors, but outdoors there is no need. Measures in schools include maintaining the mandatory use of protective masks inside and outside, regular ventilation of premises, thorough cleaning of surfaces and equipment, special vacations, etc. There will be no regular tests for unvaccinated students or teachers.
There seems to have been confusion, however, as the Greek National Tourism Organization came out with the claim that entry measures would not be lifted in May, despite claims by the health ministry. Her interpretation of the ministry statement was that the measures would be suspended, which means relief only for some restrictions.
