A gunman opened fire on customers in the restaurant area of an Indiana mall. Four people were killed in a shooting in Houston.
A show by comedian Craig Robinson in North Carolina couldn’t even begin after spectators scattered to get away from a gunman.
In Las Vegas, the possibility of a shooting at the MGM Grand casino plunged the crowd into chaos that began due to a broken glass door.
As customers headed for the exits and some hid behind overturned gambling tables, professional poker player Daniel Negreanu was swept up in the painful reflection of an America gripped by gun violence.
“On the surface, others would see it and think it was an overreaction,” Mr. Negreanu said. “But it is justifiable… as we already live in a state of fear.”
It was a false alarm in Las Vegas, but violence over the weekend left more than 12 people dead or injured, including a 12-year-old, two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old.
The fear of armed assailants has made people more anxious and these gun attacks, or the panic from their fear, were just the latest blows to America in 2022, after a school was turned into a crime scene in recent months, a church, a grocery store and a 4th of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois.
In addition, authorities released a report critical of all law enforcement agencies, including the inaction of hundreds of federal, state and local officers, for a chaotic and lackluster response on May 24 to a gunman who killed 19 students. and two teachers inside an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
Let’s take a look at what happened this weekend.

“A lot of people would have died last night if it hadn’t been for a responsible, armed citizen,” Mr Ison said.
The 20-year-old attacker also lost his life. The police are not yet aware of the motive of the attack.
Mr. Ison said the gunman used an AR-15 rifle during the shooting, and fired 24 rounds in two minutes. Investigators found another rifle and magazines with more than 100 rounds in the bathroom. They also found a pistol in the attacker’s body.
