A man was struck to death with his horn between his legs in front of his wife and daughter while attending a traditional bull festival in Spain.
Oscar Rodriguez Calleja, 50, was rushed to hospital after being hit by a 500-kg bull named Rodillero at the Fiesta del Verdejo festival in the town. La Seca, near Valladolid, in northern Spain.
The gruesome footage of the incident that happened on Sunday, May 1st, was released today as it showed moments when the bull comes out furiously from its wooden cage, turning immediately to the right to hit people behind protective barriers.
The father of two is caught unprepared and is lifted into the air by the force of his horns and then crashed to the ground mercilessly.
Spectators watched in horror as Oscar was hit in the horns as the victim’s relatives panicked and were taken with him to the health center.
The 50-year-old was taken to the Medina del Campo Hospital for surgery but failed to survive.
The Fiesta del Verdejo festival where the tragedy took place takes place every year since 2008.
Also in January a man was struck to death by bull horn at the Puerto Serrano festival in the southwestern Spanish province of Cadiz.
Last October a 55-year-old became the first person to lose his life from a bull horn at the Onda festival in the eastern province of Castellon.
Even before the coronavirus outages there were many participants of such events who suffered severe injuries from bulls released among the crowds for fun.
In 2015 seven people lost their lives this way from July to August.
