The summer season with its high temperatures aggravates the problems and increases cases of anxiety, say psychiatrists, who advise us how to protect ourselves, and how the community should behave with people suffering from mental health problems.
“The heat itself causes a decrease in strength and energy in each of us. But our patients feel it more. And they attribute this decrease in strength, and all this sluggishness, to medications. Therefore, in this period, they try to reduce the dose of medicines or even stop them altogether.
We as doctors recommend reducing the doses of antipsychotics, in moments of heat and heat, as they cause a decrease in tension, but this is monitored. The movement of the doses must always be monitored by the doctor, because there are some mental health problems that are aggravated by the heat, and there we are forced to use high doses of antipsychotics. Therefore, everything is done under the care of doctors and with the advice of doctors.
Among young people, the use of narcotic substances, the use of alcoholic beverages, coffee, long stays in the late hours at concerts or discos, have caused them to manifest mental health problems, mainly anxiety, panic attacks and sleep disorders.
The most common diagnosis during the summer is anxiety. We encounter it starting from teenagers and young people, but also in the third age. But it is mostly among young people. But anxiety is not a danger to others. Psychoses are those that pose a danger to society, because a person suffering from mental health problems with psychosis can engage in violent, even fatal, behavior.
In general, the community bullies patients who suffer from mental health problems. And they feel this bullying, so in many cases they isolate themselves just for fear that someone might bully them. This also comes from illness, but in most cases they are bullied by the residents of the neighborhood where they live, especially by children.
Therefore, a lot of care is needed when a person with a mental health problem is bullied, he can also commit criminal acts. His aggressiveness goes to the degree that he then fails to control his behavior until fatality.” – said Valentina Asabella, Psychiatrist
