Hungarian security forces over the past three days have blocked the entry into the country of more than 450 irregular migrants.
In a statement, police said at least 458 migrants had returned from the country’s borders.
The police report also states that at least 1,418 migrants were prevented from entering the country between December 20th and 26th, and that another 1,381 from December 27th to January 2nd.
Further, it is said that during the last week at least 21 people were arrested on suspicion of smuggling human beings.
Hungary has built a barbed wire fence on its borders with Serbia and Croatia in a bid to prevent irregular migrants, declaring a state of emergency in border areas and increasing penalties for illegal crossings.
