Thomas Strakosha decided to continue his career in England, as from next season he will be part of Brentford in the Premier League. The goalkeeper of the national team has signed a four-year contract with the English while also giving his first interview as a Brentford player. The 27-year-old says that his new teammates have been very hospitable, while emphasizing that he has been waiting for the opportunity to play in the Premier League for many years.
“The first day in the team was wonderful, filled with positive energy. The guys have been fantastic from the start and made me feel really good. I am very happy and at the same time excited to play in the Premier League, I have been waiting for such an opportunity for years. for me it is a dream come true. I am part of an ambitious club, I want to give my best and I hope that the team has a better ranking than last season”.
How difficult is it to move from Lazio, where you stayed for many years, to a new experience? “Of course it’s something challenging for me, I got a lot of experience there and I wish you the best. It’s a big change, but I really wanted to play in the Premier League. It is the best league in Europe, I am very proud. There are not many Albanian players in the Premier League and I want to show that Albanians can play and do well in the Premier League”.
Why did you choose Albania before Greece? “I love Greece, I was born there, it’s a wonderful country. But my parents are Albanian and my origin is Albanian. I feel Albanian, my father was the captain of the national team. I admire him a lot for what he has done especially in the past which was a difficult time, I am proud to play for Albania. My father was the reason why I play football, when he brought the goalkeeper’s gloves home, I checked them and tried them on even though they were too big for me. I started to like it”, said Strakosha.
