An investigation launched three years ago by the Special Prosecutor’s Office and the State Police was finalized this Thursday with the issuance of arrest warrants for 44 people involved in drug trafficking, production and cultivation, as part of structured criminal groups.
35 people have been arrested, while another is under house arrest and one is under duress.

During the investigation, SPAK was able to identify 13 criminal episodes of trafficking, production and sale of narcotics and cultivation of narcotic plants in Vlora, Tepelena, Durres, Tirana and Lezha, cities where the operation was conducted throughout Thursday. The suspected criminal acts were committed during the period from March to November 2020.
During 36 months of investigation, SPAK managed to prove the criminal activity of five different groups, for which the Special Court signed 42 measures “arrest in prison”, including two police officers, 1 “house arrest” and 1 woman under the measure of security “obligation to appear”.
During the investigations of the Special Prosecution, it turned out that Fejzi Meçaj, a police officer at the Tepelena Commissariat, and Adriatik Logli, a member of the Gjirokastra Police, committed the criminal offense of “abuse of duty”, while facilitating the work of traffickers in drug trafficking. .
In particular, in the city of Vlora, 8 arrest warrants were issued, six of them were executed. One of the wanted persons was not found in the apartment, while another turned out to have been arrested earlier for other criminal offenses.
