Edi Rama held a conversation with journalists from Washington, where there was no question about Berisha being declared non grata by the US.
Regarding this issue, Rama said that such decisions are taken with well-defined processes and have nothing to do with external factors.
“With the Secretary of State we have touched on all the predetermined topics to be discussed, which are all the topics of our cooperation with the US. As for the level, I think we have known in these years to build on the previous basis and take foreign policy to another level. This is the merit of all those who, together with me, have contributed to this effort. In the international arena, Albania is placed at a completely different level.
Berisha’s proclamation non grata is 100% of Sali Berisha’s merit. The US has simply confirmed its merit with their decision. To say that the US government can be influenced by external factors for decisions of this nature is to accuse the US of being a state without seriousness and integrity and of having a corrupt government for the purposes of third parties, that is unrealistic. These are decisions that have nothing to do with external factors. If the US were to be influenced so easily, then they were today hostage to dictatorships that have dizzying wealth, but it does not happen because the US has a different philosophy and it is all a farce unfortunately,“, Said Prime Minister Rama.
