A NATO military official claims that Russia is making slow progress in invading Ukraine due to the anticipation of negotiations between the two countries.
“They have problems,” the official explained, “they lack oil, they are moving towards a slowdown.”
On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said its troops had been ordered to resume their offensive “in all directions” after a suspension of negotiations with the Ukrainian government was ordered. The ministry said the offensive was ordered to continue after Ukraine abandoned consultations.
A Ukrainian presidential adviser denied in the early hours of Saturday that Ukraine had refused to negotiate.
Asked if the Russians are likely to intensify their efforts, the official said: “They have to do, they are far behind the deadline. “This is getting out of control for them, every extra day is very painful.”
