UEFA has confirmed that the final of the May Champions League has been moved from St. Petersburg to Paris, in response to the Russian military occupation of Ukraine.
The governing body of European football made the announcement after an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee on Friday. The game was scheduled to take place at Gazprom Arena in Russia’s second largest city on May 28th.
UEFA said on Thursday that it strongly condemned the invasion and remained firm in its “solidarity with the football community in Ukraine”.
