Italian police in Pordenone arrested two women and three men, all of Albanian nationality, responsible for dozens of thefts in shopping malls across Italy, specializing in a special technique that was applied above all in the ‘H&M’ stores.
Neighboring media write that the gang always came from Albania, rented cars and committed a series of thefts with the same system tested for several days, then returned to their country.
The arrests and detentions were confirmed by the investigating judge at the Court of Pordenone. Goods worth about 8 thousand euros, income from theft, were also seized.
investigation
The investigation began last September after H&M’s lawyer denounced a series of clothing thefts at the Gran Fiume (Pordenone) store. The Pordenone Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation, also conducting wiretapping and mobile traffic analysis, which identified the gang.
In September through December alone, and in Fvg and Veneto alone, the gang is suspected of committing at least 14 thefts. Investigations revealed that the women entered the shops and after removing the clothes from the hangers, they then hid them between the shelves where they found two men. They were then seen in commercial carts equipped with anti-theft devices.
The third person served as an outside observer. The gang committed several thefts in one day. Investigations are underway to identify the channels for receiving the goods that were destined for sale abroad.
The five people were arrested at the time they were committing theft at the l’Adriatico 2 shopping center in Portogruaro. They were locked up in prisons in Padua, Verona and Venice.
