The story could have been written differently for Giorgio Chiellini if Italy had a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The defender played the last match with the national team in the Wembley final on behalf of the first edition of “Finalissima” where they lost to Argentina with the result 0-3. “If Italy had qualified for the World Cup, I would have continued to be part of it and stay at Juventus for another season. I wanted to change my story in the World because I have not had many joys in this competition, it has never been easy for me. I gave everything of myself to go to Qatar with Italy, but it was not possible.
“If the national team would play in the 2018 World Cup, I would have withdrawn immediately after the event, but seeing how things went then I say that I would have made a wrong decision because from that period I played a lot and won the European Championship”, said Chiellini who is already expected to continue his career in MLS, the American championship./Supersport
