The annual fair called Cali which takes place every year in the southwestern city of Colombia has returned to tradition, after being canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Salsa dancers filled the streets with their decorative costumes at Salsodromo to inaugurate the opening of the festival.
The Cali festival dates back to 1957, a year after a huge explosion rocked the city killing hundreds of people. In this way the authorities decided to organize a big fair next year to raise the morale of the people and give a new impetus to the economy. Although the origin of the fair comes from tragic motives, it has not prevented its members from enjoying much in the toys and entertainment prepared for the holiday.
Already, this fair attracts around 2 million visitors and wonderfully displays the musical and cultural diversity of the majority of the African-Colombian population. It has also been transformed into the most important national social and musical event.
