Ukraine has accused Russian planes of firing on a Belarusian settlement near the border from Ukrainian airspace as an attempt to plunge Belarus into the war.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that at noon, the State Border Service received information that Russian planes had taken off from an airfield in Belarus, passed through Ukrainian airspace and then shot at Kopani, a village in Belarus, according to Reuters.
“This is a provocation! The aim is to involve the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in the war with Ukraine!“, Said the Command of the Ukrainian Air Force in a statement.
The Ukrainian military said two other Belarusian settlements were also targeted in the operation.
