Japan and the United States announced yesterday that they have agreed that Tokyo will pay 1.55 trillion yen ($ 13.64 billion) over a five-year period from April next year to maintain US bases in the country, the Japanese network NHK reported.
The new deal is nearly 211 billion yen, more than Japan paid in the fiscal year ending in March, the NHK network reports without giving further details.
