Kosovo’s involvement in the inauguration of Aleksandar Vucic as president of Serbia has provoked strong reactions in Germany. German Liberal Party MP Renata Alt demanded the immediate freezing of talks on Serbia’s EU membership.
Alt, who also chairs the Bundestag’s Commission on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, told DW that this shows that Vucic does not attach any importance to the long-term normalization of relations with his neighbor.
“Sharp tones from Belgrade aggravate the tense situation between the two countries. The fact that Vucic is simultaneously increasing co-operation with the Kremlin and refusing to join sanctions against Russia is diametrically opposed to EU foreign policy.
“Therefore, the negotiations for Serbia’s accession to the EU must be set up immediately,” she commented. This is Vuici.’S second presidential term, as much as is allowed by law in Serbia.
The text of the oath, which he took, is defined by the Constitution of Serbia of 2006 states: “I swear that I will dedicate all my powers to the preservation of the sovereignty and integrity of the territory of the Republic of Serbia, including Kosovo and Metohija as an integral part of it, as well as to the realization of human and human rights and freedoms. minorities, respect and protection of the Constitution and laws, preservation of peace and prosperity of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia and that I will perform conscientiously and responsibly all my duties.
