The United States has donated over 500,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to Kosovo.
At the acceptance ceremony of these vaccines provided by the American president, Joe Biden, the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said that the USA once saved the country from the war, and now from Covid 19.
She has invited citizens for vaccination even with the boosting dose.
“We have not remained indifferent the whole time we faced the pandemic. I am happy that from this commitment, our state has benefited from some contingents with vaccine doses. We should be grateful to the states that have helped us and many organizations. The risk from the virus has not passed. Each of us has responsibilities not just personal health. The more vaccines, the fewer deaths, the more chances for opening up, helping the economy and getting back to normalSaid Osmani.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti vowed that the success of Kosovo from the “Omicron” and “Delta” variants, is according to him the vaccination campaign. But, he added that this success is based on the help of donations.
“On behalf of the government let me thank the US and the COVAX initiative for donating vaccine doses. Kosovo has been a great beneficiary of these efforts. At a time when the number of infected is declining, there are several reasons that the vaccination campaign remains an urgent need… we need to reach the level of vaccination. Vaccines continue to be vital because the only thing that can be predicted by a virus is its unpredictability.“, Declared Kurti at the ceremony of accepting over 500 thousand doses of vaccine.
The Minister of Health, Rifat Latifi emphasized that over 57 percent of the citizens in Kosovo are vaccinated with both doses.
“More than 500,000 doses are added to the MoH stock to help fight Covid 19. 1.8 million vaccines have been provided in Kosovo. 57 percent are vaccinated with both doses. The third dose is very encouraging and should be increased further. “he said.
