Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Zelensky should recognize Crimea and separatist-controlled regions as Russian.
“Our position is known. “Crimea is a Russian region and this should be recognized both de facto and de jure,” Peskov told reporters today.
Also for the republics of DPR and LPR, Pestov stressed that they are independent sovereign states and are recognized by the Russian Federation.
Pestov’s reaction comes a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview that he was ready to consider discussing the status of Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Asked about the Kremlin’s conditions for ending the war, Zelensky said he was ready for dialogue. He has classified these conditions as an ultimatum from Russia and added that Ukraine is not prepared for ultimatums, but we have the possible solution to the situation.
“I’m talking about security guarantees. I think the issues regarding the temporarily occupied territories and the unknown republics that have not been recognized by anyone but Russia, these pseudo-republics, but we can discuss and find a compromise on how these territories will live. “For me, it is important how people will live in these territories, who want to be part of Ukraine,” said Zelensky.
