Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are not progressing and will most likely not resume after the “capitulation” of the Ukrainian army from the Azovstal steel plant.
said there was no doubt that the fighters who fled the besieged Azovstal steel plant in the port city of Mariupol had surrendered.
“Negotiations are not really progressing. We see a complete lack of desire among Ukrainian negotiators to continue this process. The definition is unclear: soldiers who took refuge in the territory of Azovstal are laying down their arms and surrendering. he said
Ukrainian authorities have said the fighters could be exchanged for Russian prisoners, but no details of any agreement between the two sides have been made public. The fighters have been sent to Russian-controlled areas in eastern Ukraine.
