The Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu saw closely the new investment in IPH, where she said that these devices are part of the plan for responding to the pandemic and public health emergencies.
“We have invested for the Institute of Public Health in relation to the increase of capacities, which are increased by about 30% compared to those before, by renovating and increasing the equipment fleet in terms of equipment and also contributing to better affordability. of the situation. They apply to the Institute of Public Health, not only for PCR and coronavirus identification but also for a range of agents. This is important because it opens up a range of other virus analysis. Which means we are preparing and strengthening our capacities, not only to respond to the current situation of capacity building, but also to anticipate what the whole world is aiming for today, emergencies that may occur in the future. Speaking about the epidemiological situation, Manatirliu said that in 95% of the cases identified with Covid19, the Omicron variant predominates, adding that there are 330 points across the country for performing the antigen test.
“We are in a situation where the incidence is estimated to be increased. Two days ago we had the highest peak ever of infection cases, where as confirmed by the Institute of Public Health, over 95% of cases today present with the Omicron variant. To cope with this situation requires rapid testing, safe testing. We have not stopped at any point our efforts either in terms of rapid testing and PCR testing, so we are increasing capacity. We have 330 points in all of Albania where the fast free test is performed in our health centers “, said Manastirliu.
Emphasizing that the strengthening of hospital capacities will continue, Manastirliu said that work is underway to have an implementation project for further strengthening of the capacities of the Institute of Public Health.

During the visit to the virology laboratory at the Institute of Public Health, the Minister of Health and Social Protection said that they are working to strengthen hospital capacity, noting that the works for the reconstruction of the Infectious Diseases Hospital will be opened soon, while appealing again to citizens for conducting anticovid vaccine, stressing the importance of booster dose for reducing hospital admissions and severe forms of the disease.
