The Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Luigi Soreca, through a post on social networks writes that it is the first time that the Albanian civil society has the opportunity to present the priorities to the political parties before the elections.
“The election campaign does not mean that the candidates talk to each other, but to the citizens. We want to hear about topics that are not part of the campaign. The demands of young people for the election campaign is an issue I want to promote. Civil society is a bridge that connects politics with citizens. “Civil society should be an active part of the decision-making process,” said the EU ambassador.
“I encourage you to help the citizens vote and help them to reject and denounce any violations, frauds or intimidation that may occur. “The integrity of the elections is determined on election day and before.”
Soreca stressed once again that party leaders have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the candidates on the lists meet the highest standards.
“The country deserves MPs who will support the European reform agenda for the fight against corruption and organized crime. Elections are different in every country of the European Union, but the essence is that citizens decide based on political offers. “It is even simpler than that, it has to do with the citizens themselves, their quality of life, their future and their ability to influence it, through the vote,” he said.
