Sali Berisha has spoken out against the initiative that the government is expected to take to legalize cannabis in the country. In a press conference, Berisha considered a decision harmful to Albanians, a decision as he said for the legalization of crime, drugs and murders.
Berisha: This decision is for the legalization of crime, drugs, murders, drugging of young people and the population and the violation of physical and mental health as well as the identity of Albanians, their reputation. I in my training as a doctor but also as a politician have read extensively about cannabis, I am fully aware that the oil of this plant or other by-products are used to relieve some circumstances, anxiety, pain and other circumstances. In this context, data from the doctor there is no contradiction, but extensive studies of the world’s most prestigious and recent universities have shown that cannabis creates serious problems, structural and in brain processes.
They have proven that it multiplies the occurrence of the most severe psychoses, that it gives structural changes evidenced in the brains of its users. They have been shown to be harmful to the heart and circulatory system. Cannabis has at least its composition over 50 chemicals and for their side effects in the body there are no exhaustive studies, they do not exist. These are the aspects on physical and mental health, but to legalize cannabis in Albania, a country labeled as you know it repeatedly in the world media like “Colombia of Europe” or cannabis means to trample the reputation of this country, to do it cannabis symbol of Albania, which only in its biodiversity in aromatic plant species has plants dozens of times more expensive than cannabis.
