The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, has changed the address of the Russian embassy on “Street of Ukrainian Heroes”.
Mayor Remigijus Simasius has said that this is a measure to protest against the Russian occupation of its pro-Western neighbor, Ukraine.
“From today, the business card of every employee of the Russian embassy will be decorated with a note in honor of the fighting in Ukraine and everyone will have to think about the atrocities of the Russian regime against the peaceful Ukrainian nation when writing the name of this street,” said the mayor. .
So far, the Russian embassy has received the address from the nearby Latvian road, the name of which remains unchanged, but the appointment has been given to a small road, so far unnamed, leading to the Russian embassy.
Simasius added that on Wednesday workers put up two new road plates named in Lithuanian and Ukrainian.
Earlier, Lithuania used the same method in 2018, to send a message to Russia with signs and symbols, where it renamed a square outside the embassy “Boris Nemtsov”, a prominent opposition figure who was killed near the Kremlin by unknown assailants.
