Romelu Lukaku gave a bombastic interview on Thursday, while he was also asked about the comparison of Antonio Conte’s Inter with that of Simone Inzaghi.
The interview of the Belgian representative is said to have been recorded three weeks ago in London, but the Italian satellite channel is publishing clips little by little before the full special broadcast today (Friday), on December 31st.
After his extremely inflammatory comments that he is unhappy at Chelsea and hoping that he will play again for Inter, Lukaku was asked about the current team under the leadership of Inzaghi and that of Conte.
“I do not like to make comparisons between two teams. “Having said that, I have to be honest: the team is now playing really good football and is at the top of the Serie A table,” Lukaku initially replied.
“I really hope they win the Scudetto again, because I love everyone there and thanks to them I have become the player I am now.”
“Inter and his fans, for me, deserve to be at the top. “I hope the club continues to grow, that they continue to win after the Christmas break, but you never know what might happen in football.”
Inzaghi should have rebuilt the team without Lukaku and Achraf Hakim, but has actually done better so far this season than Conte at this stage last season.
Not only has it led them to the 16th round of the Champions League, but Inter are also at the top of the Serie A table, compared to second place last year.
Meanwhile, the players are praising all Inzaghi for being given more ‘freedom’ tactically on the pitch than Conte, for a more attacking style of football and not just using Lukaku to hold the ball.
