Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called Russia a “completely insane terrorist” over an airstrike on a shopping center in Kremenchuk, central Ukraine.
Speaking today, Zelensky said: “These are not missile attacks outside the target in kindergartens, schools, shopping malls, residential buildings, these are calculated attacks of the invaders. Russia should be recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism. “The world can and must stop Russian terror.”
The attack on the mall on Monday, which killed at least 18 people, with dozens still missing, has been widely condemned by the international community.
Leaders at the G7 summit in Germany called the attack “disgusting” and “a war crime.”
The European Union called the attack a “hateful act”, adding in a statement: “Continued shelling of civilians and civilian objects is reprehensible and completely unacceptable and constitutes a war crime.”
Responding to the attack, Moscow said it had hit a Western-made weapons and ammunition factory next to what it called a “dysfunctional” shopping mall.
