Minister Manastirliu said that every woman in the age group 40-50 should take this test at least once every 5 years.
“I came right here to the health center no. 4 and I will perform this test myself, since I am in the age group that is affected by the realization of this test. This test is performed in a very fast way and is found in health centers everywhere, so I have an appeal for all women aged 40-50 years. They should not hesitate to take care of themselves first and perform a test which is quite simple. The HPV test is a test that is life-saving, in cases when this test identifies a problem in time, which is further followed by our health system “, said Manastirliu.
Prof. Alban Ylli, expert of the Institute of Public Health said that previously the HPV test was performed in private at high cost, while today it is offered by the public system.
“It’s a fact for middle-aged women to get cervical cancer early. It is performed as a test, as an analysis in private laboratories at an extremely high cost. While today it is offered by the public system. Many women who test positive receive the service immediately from gynecologists and are followed up. “Testing provides an excellent opportunity to prevent this disease that can be deadly,” said Ylli.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection announced that work is underway on the National Cancer Control Strategy which will provide measures to prevent this type of cancer.
“We are working on the National Strategy for Cancer Control, where within this national strategy we have included several measures in relation to different types of cancer which are part of all non-communicable diseases in relation to what they bring for population. We have also decided in this 10-year strategy to plan other measures in terms of prevention of this cancer which is totally preventable through the HPV vaccine and is one of our objectives in the strategy that we are already drafting with experts. “In terms of cancer control strategy,” said Manastiliu.
