Ghislaine Maxwell, the tutor of often underage women who were sexually exploited by pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, was sentenced tonight to 20 years in prison for her role in trafficking girls into the circle of abusers.
Judge Alison Nathan said in her bizarre comment that the 240-month prison sentence was “sufficient and not greater than necessary,” for Maxwell, who had previously told victims of her use of the courtroom: “I’m sorry for the pain you experienced.”
“I hope my sentence gives you a sense of closure,” Maxwell said at the end of the proceedings since her arrest in July 2020.
The British-Jewish heiress of her father’s media group, the corrupt publisher Robert Maxwell, lured victims of prostitution and sexual exploitation into the circle of American-Jewish financier Epstein.
Today, four women testified in a Manhattan trial about her abuse and manipulation, calling for Maxwell to be locked in a cell and for “throwing away the keys.”
“Maxwell had many opportunities to recover her cruelty, but she continued to cause more harm and pain,” said one of the defendants, Annie Farmer, in a written statement to the court.
Virginia Giuffre Roberts, one of Maxstein and Epstein’s first accusers of her sex trafficking with British Prince Andrew, described Maxwell as “a wolf in sheep’s clothing” in her letter to the court.
“Ghislaine, you deserve to spend your life in prison, you deserve to be locked in a cage for life, just as you lock up and exploit your victims.”
Maxwell’s lawyers had sought ‘mercy’ by seeking only five years in prison, but the British aristocrat has often been described as a “sophisticated predator” inextricably linked to the infamous abuser Epstein.
“Maxwell was Jeffrey Epstein’s right-hand man, they were partners in crime who abused the girls they shot together and then forced them to be abused by their influential friends in a vicious circle of blackmail and prostitution,” he said. prosecutor Alison Moe.
Maxwell said he was becoming a victim of his inability to prosecute Epstein, who died suddenly in a Manhattan cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on the same charges.
His death was defined as “suicide” by the New York forensic pathologist although he was supposed to be kept under observation 24 hours a day.
One of the victims who testified in court, who used the nickname Carolyn, said she had been sexually abused more than 100 times by Epstein since she was 14 years old.
On one occasion Carolyn recalled the first time she visited the maniac’s villa when Maxwell said to the other girl, Giuffre, “Get up and learn what to do.”
The teens then massaged Epstein and then he had sex with Giuffre in Carolyn’s eyes, the latter testified.
Another victim, nicknamed Kate, told the court that Maxwell was sending her to start a relationship with rich and powerful men, who were introduced to her by Epstein and the father of his tutor, the corrupt British publisher Robert Maxwell.
These relationships with powerful people were also the reason or blackmail why Maxwell and Epstein had not been touched so long for their crimes and abuses.
“The accused never believed that once teenage girls would have the power to denounce what was happening to them, as they are now appearing in court to tell the truth,” said Assistant Prosecutor Maurene Comey.
