Eva Lopez has sued the New York police for $ 30 million after the poster where she appealed for information on a prostitute wanted for theft, the officers had mistakenly put her name.
The 31-year-old revealed that she was wanted by the police on August 16 last year when she got off the plane with her boyfriend and was informed by a friend.
Lopez, from New York, USA, did not pay attention to the matter until her owner persuaded her to contact the police.
That night she called Officer Kevin Dwyer – whose name was on the poster – who told her the notice had already been removed from the official police website at Facebook as the requested author had a tattoo on her arm, despite Lopez not having one.
But the model said the damage had already been done: “The image has already spread to all social networks. “He is passing from one to another and they are talking about me as if I were a prostitute or a thief.”
In the image she appears with an open dress in front, a thick gold chain, colorful stretches and high heels, accompanied by the comment: “Wanted for aggravated theft”.
Lopez told officers the night of the incident was in the Queens area of New York and not Manhattan.
“On the Facebook network, it has been redistributed thousands of times – 10,000 or 20,000 times. It was then posted on Instagram and other sites with millions of followers.
Lopez, who works as a waitress, protested the innocence on her Instagram account but said her reputation had been severely damaged.
“I want people to know that she is not there, that girl has nothing to do with me,” said the girl, adding that she has never worked as a prostitute and does not know the victims.
