The United Nations has said more than 1.2 million people have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries since Russia launched its full-scale occupation on February 24.
According to UNICEF, the UN children’s agency, about half a million of those who left are young people.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has predicted that more than four million Ukrainian refugees may eventually need protection and assistance.
UNCHR communications chief Joung-ah Ghedini-Williams described the scale of the exodus as “phenomenal”.
We know there are many others on the move. It is also possible that the same number of people have moved within the country.
