Just hours after the wedding, Yaryna Arieva and Sviatoslav Fursin joined forces to defend their country. They were to be married in May, but rushed to celebrate last week in Kiev when Russia introduced troops to invade Ukraine.
Dressed in war clothes, the couple spoke to CNN showing that they are spending their honeymoon in the war.
“It’s hard to understand, this is the new reality we have.” said Arieva, who is from Kiev.
She added that it is the first day of spring and usually people should be planting flowers instead of resisting the Russian attack.
“No one says we will lose or cry. Everyone believes that we will win, it is simply a matter of time. So I’m very happy to see that some people are getting ready for war. Ready to kill for their land. “There is no doubt that we will win this war.” she said.
Her husband, who was born in Lviv, said that people always want to be free, so they will fight for their freedom.
