The polio virus has been rediscovered in Nigeria, West Africa.
The director of the Nigerian National Health Service Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, said in a written statement that the poliovirus has been detected in 27 states, as well as in the capital Abuja.
Shuaib stressed that so far the virus has been detected in 395 people.
Stressing that this situation is worrying for the country, Shuaib stated that a vaccination campaign against the virus in question has been launched across the country.
In Africa, in addition to Nigeria, poliovirus has also been detected in countries such as the Gambia, Uganda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, Chad and Sudan.
