The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, today opened the “Open Balkans” summit, convinced that this initiative will be further expanded and will help integrate the Western Balkans into the European Union.

The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia reiterated the invitation to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who has so far refused to join “Open Balkan”.

Our vision is to be integrated into the EU. We will have bigger investments, we ask the EU to support us. In the Open Balkans we are convinced that this initiative will become more and more active. The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovi,, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are with us today. The invitation to Kosovo is still open! ”
Representatives of Bosnia and Montenegro are in the role of observer, while Abazovic is expected to confirm or not Montenegro’s entry into the Open Balkans.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has rejected the invitation of the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, to participate in the Open Balkans Initiative.
The three initiators, Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, Aleksandar Vuçiç, the President of Serbia, and Zoran Zaev, the former Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, conceived this concept in order to create an area of free movement of people, goods and services in Western Balkans.
