Manchester United have formalized the purchase of Lisandro Martinez. The “Red Devils” won the rivalry with other clubs and convinced Ajax to release the Argentine central defender for 55 million euros.
The 24-year-old, who can also play as a left-back and devastating midfielder, was a request from coach Ten Hag, who knows and appreciates him a lot, having worked together at the Dutch champions.
SuperSport writes that Martinez will be part of United for the next five years. He has become the most expensive Argentine defender, as he is also included in the ten most expensive defenders in history.
“United are pleased to announce that the club has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, who has undergone medical tests and visa application in the United Kingdom,” read the official post of the island club.
Martinez made his debut in March 2019 with the Argentine national team, whose jersey he has worn seven times so far. He is United’s third signing after Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.
