Elvis Presley’s childhood home in Tupelo, Mississippi which was abandoned and at one point was expected to be demolished will be auctioned off.
According to ‘The Post’, this is the only childhood home of the King of Rock and Roll that has ever hit the market. The starting price of the auction will be set from $ 30,000 to $ 50,000.
The 1,260-square-foot, 1,260-square-foot home that once held address 605 Kelly Street in East Tupelo first went up for auction in 2020. But despite having stakeholders, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was unable to list any buyers. Rockhurst Auctions owner Jeff Marren told The Post:
“The house itself has been carefully dismantled and detached, so it can be reunited. “It’s being stored in a trailer.”
The company is set to hold the auction on Aug. 14 in Memphis during the celebration of Elvis Week. Marren added that:
“So when someone buys the house, they will get all the trailers and designs to put them together. “Anyone who buys it can actually hire the person who broke it up to reunite them.”
Meanwhile, Presley’s birthplace in Tupelo remains a historic museum site open to the public, along with Graceland, his longtime home in Memphis, Tennessee, where he lived with his parents throughout his life.
The auction follows the release of Baz Luhrmann’s biographical film “Elvis”, which hit theaters on Friday, June 26th.
Recall, that recently three generations of the family of Elvis Presley, marked the names and handprints in Hollywood in a special ceremony at the Chinese Theater TCL.
Presley’s wife, Priscilla, daughter, Lisa Marie, and Finley granddaughters, Harper Lockwood and Riley Keough were in attendance, as well as future biographical film director Baz Luhrmann and star Austin Butler.
