On the Albanian Riviera, these days there are more than 300 thousand vacationers. It is the height of the season and a large presence has increased the flow to the few health centers located in the area.
Over 40,000 people go to the city of Himara alone every day, the vast majority of them vacationers. This town has a health center where two doctors work in shifts. They find it impossible to cope with the large number of visits and emergencies. Doctors themselves admit this.
In Himare, doctors only have a few minimal working tools available, while for serious cases they are sent to regional hospitals in Vlora, Fier and even Tirana.
Four ambulances are available. On hot days and holidays at the seaside, there is a very large number of cases mainly from holidaymakers seeking medical help.
The first are viruses and Covid, but also cases of serious emergencies such as heart attacks. Meanwhile, the Drimadha health center has more doctors.
