The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said today that the proposals being discussed, for extended autonomy or the Association of Serbian Municipalities with executive powers, have not been presented to the institutions of Kosovo.
President Osmani spoke today before the meeting with the United States Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, and the European Union Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.
“I will meet them today around 16:00 (Escobar and Lajcak). However, I want to clarify from now on that the proposals that are being talked about for allegedly extended autonomy or some kind of Association with executive powers, have never been presented to our party, ie the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo “, said Osmani.
Osmani during the homage he paid today in the Martyrs’ Square in Podujeva, stressed that the former prime ministers of Kosovo have signed harmful agreements, which have given the Association of Serbian Municipalities executive powers.
“What is the big problem is that it was the representatives of the Republic of Kosovo who signed harmful agreements which gave the Association of Serbian Municipalities executive powers. So we have to say a reality that is, because it is black and white, it is a letter signed by the former Prime Minister of Kosovo and the responsibility must be taken as such. Consequently, these tendencies to then speak the responsibility of the international community and hide in front of the international community do not do Kosovo any honor. “As representatives of the Republic of Kosovo, we are determined not to allow them to be implemented in our country, which has been built with a lot of sacrifices, models that would make our state dysfunctional,” she said.
Osmani, when asked about the reports that “there will be proposals for an association of a different form with what has been so far and a proposal for a kind of autonomy in the northern part of Kosovo”, said that Escobar has stated that his request is not to implement models that would transform the north of Kosovo into a “Republika Sbrska”.
Osmani further said that Kosovo’s positions regarding the issue of the Association of Serbian Municipalities remain the same.
“I believe that you have heard both the new US ambassador and Escobar in the last interview, saying that his request is the opposite of what you mentioned, not to implement models that would transform the north of Kosovo. in a new “Republika Srpska”, ie that no executive powers are required, nor is a model required that would turn this Association into an intermediate or third level of government, which would be contrary to the Constitution of Kosovo . Our positions regarding the Association have been clear, it is not that they are a surprise to anyone, including our international friends, so we are discussing with them how to advance the dialogue process, towards what is the only solution, and sustainable not only for us as Kosovo, but for the whole region, which is mutual recognition “, declared Osmani.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti stressed that he had never met with diplomat Escobar, but only talked on the phone.
Kurti said that it is fairer for the views and opinions about the meeting with the diplomats to be given after the meeting.
“I am meeting with the United States Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Escobar, for the first time today. I have talked to him twice on the phone, but I have not met so far. “Today I will have the first meeting with him and the EU Special Representative, I believe that after the meeting it is fairer and better to give our views and opinions”, stressed Kurti./KosovaPress/
