While in the time of communism, Albanians were more limited and influenced on what they would call their newborns.
The first introduction at a workplace, in a new friendship, at school is through the name. The change of names from one generation to another is related to the evolution of society and the political system in which it lives.
In Albania, the parents’ approach to choosing a child’s name has been modernized from communism to democracy.
But among the endless names that the parent can choose and that can be decisive for their future, there is a list of forbidden names. 62 names which are considered unsuitable such as Shkurre, Ankim Hyzmet, Durak, Pafate and in civil status their registration is not allowed.
