Kosovo Police announced that some of its officials were injured during today’s protest organized by the Social Democratic Party and says that it has launched an investigation into an attack on acting officials.
The protest was held today in “Skenderbeu” Square and in front of the building of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in Pristina. The Kosovo Police Union reacted to this, demanding that investigations be launched.
“Kosovo Police, in accordance with legal authorizations has monitored the situation in order to ensure the safety of all participants and public order. During this protest, in addition to throwing various vehicles at the protesters, police officers are humiliatingly physically attacked while performing their official duties, in which case three police officers are injured. One of the police officers is attacked, slapped in the face.
This attack is very clearly seen in the video recordings of the cameras, therefore we ask the justice authorities to immediately act according to legal procedures and all those who attacked the police officers to be formally investigated “, tis notified.
The Police Union considers that the attack on the Police is an attack on the State of Kosovo, therefore the Prosecution and the Court should react immediately, respecting the legal principle “no one above the law”.
